With our series fulfinians in focus we want to give you a more personal look behind the scenes of fulfin and introduce the people who make this startup what it is. We start with fulfin Co-Founder Nathan Evans:
Nathan at fulfin:
What is your role and what are your responsibilities at fulfin?
At fulfin, I serve as Co-Founder and Co-CEO. My main task is to bring fulfin strategically forward and to create a vision for fulfin that convinces others to join our team.
What makes fulfin unique?
fulfin is the most customer-focused bank-alternative financing partner currently available on the market. With our expertise, greater industry insight and a better risk-return profile than many of our competitors, we can offer our customers better products. We are also constantly working to expand our product portfolio. You won't find a naïve "one size fits all" approach with us. On the contrary, we work with:
- Proprietary risk algorithms
- Digital integrations in e-commerce platforms, banks and the supply chain
- and offer e-commerce companies both secured, collateralised and unsecured loans.
What important piece of advice does fulfin always try to implement?
To be an effective leader, you must genuinely care about each individual on your team. As CEO, I care daily about both the professional and personal development of my employees, as well as their satisfaction. This important message was given to me by Keith Murnighan (RIP), a passionate and insightful professor at the Kellogg School of Management, who I would also credit with playing a critical role in my personal development as a leader.

What and who motivates you?
That's pretty simple: nothing motivates me more than Monday morning. I love what I do, and pushing fulfin forward day after day together with the team is what excites me the most.
The people who inspire me the most are, on the one hand, fellow entrepreneurs who see even difficult phases as an opportunity for innovation. As well as some outstanding academics at the Kellogg School of Management as well as WHU, who manage to push the boundaries for management education again and again.
Where can people find you when you're not in the fulfin office?
I love fintech and what I do. I am the kind of person whose biggest hobby is work and wouldn't want to change that. I am passionate about entrepreneurship as well as building companies that can change the world. That's why I'm co-director of the Founder Institute in Munich, a global startup incubator. I enjoy mentoring founders as they build their businesses. I also have a wonderful and loving family and make sure I have time to help my children understand the world and grow into independent characters.
If you could go to dinner with one person in contemporary history, living or dead, which one would it be?
Wow, this question is almost impossible to answer. I think my choice would be someone who is intelligent, inspiring, experienced and entertaining at the same time. I think it would be a tie between Winston Churchill and Professor Stephan Hawkings. On another day, I might choose Barack Obama, Elon Musk, Gandhi, Queen Elizabeth or Greta Thunberg. What a difficult question!
